Gearing Up for COVID-19’s Mental Health Toll – Johns Hopkins Medicine

Everly estimates that from 20% to 30% of Americans could benefit from some form of psychological intervention because of the pandemic. He expects those numbers to rise. At the same time, Everly cautions mental health professionals to take care of their own emotional health. The three greatest risks the pandemic brings, says Everly, include burnout (mental and physical exhaustion), vicarious trauma and depression.
